A Defiant "Merry Christmas" !

My local rag strikes again. Here is my response. They haven't run many adversarial letters since Election Day, but here is my latest attempt to take another brick out of the wall.

Dear Letters Editor,

Your December 19, 2004 lead editorial Commanding disdain dogmatically asserted that " the Ten Commandments movement is part of a much broader strategy to inject sectarian beliefs into America's pluralistic culture." You then insisted that , "the current fad of defiance in the expression "Merry Christmas" is part of that same sad movement." My Oxford English Dictionary defines "pluralistic" as "the existence or toleration of a diversity of ethnic groups or differing cultures and views within a society. "

I'm curious. If we truly live in a pluralistic society, who is it exactly that we are defying when we say "Merry Christmas"? Is there some government office where we are supposed to apply for a permit?

I don't care if the Ten Commandments are posted in public buildings. I do care that there are powerful people in the media and the judiciary who think they have the right to regulate when, where and how I utter religious sentiments. The left have formed a habit of pre-emptively oppressing a majority that has no desire to oppress them. The liberals keep pushing, and are outraged when people start to push back. I remember when the word liberal meant generous and flexible. What happened?

Regards,

Megan

Trent Lott Needs to Get His Roots Touched Up

I've said it before. Trent Lott is a blonde. And I mean no offense to blondes. The former University of Southern Mississippi cheerleader has once again reminded me why I wasn't outraged when Senate Libs railroaded him out of his Majority Leader post for being racially insensitive. ( "Oh Senator Byrd, this is the Capitol Lost and Found desk. We have a white bedsheet here, Sir, and we think it might belong to you. ")

Miss Biloxi 1958 seems to think that SecDef Donald Rumsfeld isn't up to his job, because the Army Brass are grumbling about him. I've got news for Senator Lott. The Army Brass have been pissed at Rummy from Day One because he has been restructuring the armed services in ways that cut into their little fiefdoms. Besides, he's a Navy guy. I don't hear any admirals bitching about Rummy, do you Senator Farm Subsidy?

But these musings are wasted. This is the same man who couldn't see why Lt. Kelly Flynn's adultery with the spouse of an enlisted woman was a problem. ..and limited the Bill Clinton impeachment "trial" to three witnesses. It's time for him to have his roots touched up and his lips sewn shut.

The Pre-emptive Oppressors

Liberals know..they just KNOW...that we conservatives and people of faith are just champing at the bit to oppress them. Therefore, they must suppress us first. It is only right and fitting that they should do so. It is also pure bullsh*# , but when did that ever keep them from their goals?

Meanwhile, in our covens and smoke-filled rooms, we nefarious conservative conspirators are drawing up our enemies lists and drafting legislation to ban the wearing of thongs and fishnets in public parades. ( That reminds me of the time I saw a woman in a thong leotard and sheer black tights in the line at the dry cleaners. Perhaps there should be a law after all. ) We're diabolical ! HAH !!

Ten minutes ago, I brought a plate of Christmas goodies over to my Muslim next-door neighbor. She responded with thanks and an enthusiastic Merry Christmas. Gasp ! She obviously hasn't been briefed by the liberal religious sensitivity police. Somebody needs to help her.

So it goes. Liberals whine and cry about potential, theoretical moral harassment from conservatives, Christians and other people they know nothing about, while inflicting real censorship on those same people. And then they carp at George W. Bush for his strategy of pre-emption. What kind of mind thinks this way ?!

Thanks Chevy!!!

I'd like to thank Chevy Chase for his foul-mouthed rant against the President at the Kennedy Center. He has performed a valuable service in reminding us who the real morons are. ...and the fact that many of them are wealthy and possessed of advanced degrees makes no difference. Once again, "Stupid is as stupid does."

The Two-minute Hate

I just got done reading the Two-minute Hate that is my local liberal rag's editorial page. It is a month and a bit since the election and I am wondering when they are going to stop informing us Bush voters that we are ignorant, bigoted moral midgets who need to be trucked off to reeducation camps. Calling Dale Carnegie!!

I am loath to offer advice to liberals, but I am a compassionate conservative after all. I think you all have forgotten that owning the courts is not enough. Occasionally, you have to persuade a bunch of people to vote for you. ( Winning the Deceased Vote is not enough.) This end is not furthered by ad hominem attacks on those potential voters. This may seem obvious to those of us in the Big Flyover, but apparently our sophisticated, erudite Blue State neighbors need a little remedial instruction in this area.
( "My Momma always said, 'Stupid is as stupid does.' " - Forrest Gump )

Nor does it help when the above-mentioned liberal rag prints only those letters to the editor that agree with their side. People , even those who are not ignorant bigots, notice this sort of thing. The recent local vote on the gay-rights "Fairness Ordinance" is a case in point. I have never seen such one-sided and vicious reporting...and that's saying a lot. I was not particularly interested in thie issue itself, but I was tempted to oppose the liberal possition simply because their supporters and their paper were so blatantly stacking the deck. Besides, I really find it hard to believe that the most affluent and media-genic segment of our society can credibly claim to be living under the Dark Night of Fascism.
